Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that network play won't be included this is because MicroProse are about to launch Civnet, a network-play version of the original. But the most obvious change is one of perspective - everything in the Civ world is now completely three-dimensional. Combat has been tightened up and new units, advances and wonders introduced, so that players of the original will have plenty to learn. There's the same detailed gameplay and still endless opportunities for trying out different strategies. But now the total has gone up to four - Civilization 2 has just joined the others with a cracking up-till-five debut.ĭie-hard Civ fans will be pleased to hear that Civilization 2 is basically an enhanced version of the first game. Until yesterday just three games in my sad, wizened little life had managed to keep me up past 4am: Dungeon Master on the Atari st (back when pc games were still a huge joke).
